Guy Ritchie and Jason Statham Reunite for Action-Thriller 'Viva La Madness

Guy Ritchie and Jason Statham are teaming up once again for their sixth collaboration, an action-thriller called "Viva La Madness." The film, based on J.J. Connolly's novel and sequel to "Layer Cake," is being produced by Statham and Thomas Benski. Black Bear is also involved in producing and handling international sales for the film, which is set to start production in January 2026. Statham is the only confirmed cast member so far, with Ritchie on board as the writer and director.

"Viva La Madness" follows the story of an anonymous London drug dealer known as X, and is filled with dark humor, sex, scams, narcotics, and dirty money. The original "Layer Cake" movie, directed by Matthew Vaughn, was a cult crime drama that starred Daniel Craig and served as a breakout role for Sienna Miller. The sequel to "Layer Cake" has been in talks for over a decade, with Statham initially rumored to play Craig's character.

Ritchie, known for his British crime films like "Lock Stock" and "Snatch," has recently returned to his roots with projects like "The Gentlemen" and the upcoming "Wife & Dog." His collaboration with Statham includes films like "Revolver," "Wrath of Man," and "Operation Fortune." The duo's partnership has been successful in the past, and fans are eagerly anticipating their latest project, "Viva La Madness."
