Elvis Presley's Record-Breaking No. 1 Albums in the UK: A Musical Legacy

Elvis Presley made history on October 28, 2016, when his album The Wonder of You debuted at No. 1 on the Official UK Albums Chart, marking his 13th chart-topping album in the United Kingdom. This achievement surpassed Madonna's record of 12 chart-topping albums with her 2012 LP, MDNA. The Wonder of You features new versions of Presley's classic songs, blending his archival recordings with new arrangements by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, including tracks like "Suspicious Minds" and "Always on My Mind."
Presley's first UK No. 1 album was Rock 'N' Roll in November 1956, and he continued to dominate the charts with seven more No. 1 albums before his passing in 1977. His first posthumous No. 1 album, Elvis' 40 Greatest, was released in 1974, less than three years before his death. For six years, Presley held the record for the most No. 1 albums by a solo artist in the UK until Robbie Williams tied the record in 2019 with The Christmas Present and later surpassed it with XXV and Better Man (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack).
Robbie Williams not only broke Presley's solo artist record but also surpassed The Rolling Stones, who have topped the UK Albums Chart 14 times, and tied with The Beatles for the most No. 1 albums in UK history. Taylor Swift recently achieved her 14th No. 1 album with The Life of a Showgirl, placing her in second place behind Williams in terms of chart-topping albums in the UK.
