Concert for Altadena: Commemorating the Jan. 7 Fires with Renowned Artists

A variety of renowned artists have been recruited to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the Jan. 7 Palisades and Eaton fires, as announced by organizers. Dawes, a folk rock band based in Los Angeles, has curated a lineup that includes Brad Paisley, Jackson Browne, Mandy Moore, Jenny Lewis, Brandon Flowers, Aloe Blacc, Eric Krasno, Judith Hill, Stephen Stills, Everclear, and Ozomatli for a Concert for Altadena at the Pasadena Civic Center on Jan. 7. The event aims to support the Altadena Builds Back Foundation, a branch of the Pasadena Community Foundation, which focuses on long-term housing recovery post-Eaton fire. Proceeds will also benefit the PCF’s Eaton Fire Relief & Recovery Fund, aiding community-based nonprofit organizations assisting families affected by the Eaton fire.
Numerous musicians faced the loss of their homes and instruments in the January fires, leading to the establishment of music-specific recovery organizations like Altadena Musicians, which provides instruments to fire-affected artists. Among the performers on the anniversary concert lineup, some were personally impacted by the fires. Country artist Brad Paisley lost his first home with his wife in the Palisades fire, while Aloe Blacc's family and children's school in Pasadena Waldorf suffered losses. Blacc has been actively involved in rebuilding efforts through The Change Reaction, a philanthropic organization offering financial aid to affected individuals and fire survivors.
Actress and singer Mandy Moore took to Instagram to share the devastation of her fire-ravaged Altadena home, describing the contents as nearly a total loss. Jenny Lewis, who recently concluded a reunion tour with Rilo Kiley, reunited with her bandmates at the G*ve a F*ck benefit concert following the fires. Dawes' Taylor and Griffin Goldsmith, the primary organizers of the concert, lost their homes and recording studio in the Eaton fire, along with their parents' Altadena and childhood Malibu residences. The band collaborated with Stephen Stills and Graham Nash at FireAid and released a cover of Randy Newman's "I Love L.A." to support MusiCares, an independent non-profit aiding music professionals impacted by the January fires.
The band expressed on Instagram that the concert will be a poignant yet beautiful evening. Presale registration is currently open, with general sale starting at 10 a.m. Pacific Time on Nov. 7. Join us for a night of music and solidarity in honor of the fire-affected communities.
