Rebuilding Altadena: A Concert for Hope and Unity

A year after the devastating Eaton fire, musicians are coming together for a benefit concert called A Concert for Altadena. The event aims to raise funds and unite the community through performances by artists like Jackson Browne, Dawes & Friends, Aloe Blacc, Jenny Lewis, Everclear, Stephen Stills, Mandy Moore, Brandon Flowers of the Killers, and more. Many of the performers have connections to Los Angeles and Altadena, with Dawes, an indie band from Altadena, standing out for their lively rendition of “I Love L.A.” at the Grammys.
Actor John C. Reilly, who is hosting the event, and Mandy Moore, who will be performing, both lost their homes in the fire. Grammy winner Eric Krasno, an Altadena resident, emphasized the power of music to bring people together for a greater cause. The concert is not just a show but a means to support the recovery, hope, and rebuilding of lives in Altadena.
Kevin Lyman, the founder of the Vans Warped Tour and a longtime Altadena resident, is leading the production of the event. He highlighted the role of music in fostering community and emphasized the concert's focus on unity and purpose. All proceeds from the show will benefit the Pasadena Community Foundation’s Eaton Fire Relief & Recovery Fund and the Altadena Builds Back Foundation, aiding families impacted by the fire and supporting long-term housing recovery efforts in the neighborhood.
The Eaton fire, one of California's most destructive wildfires, claimed over 9,000 structures and resulted in 19 fatalities. Rebuilding efforts have faced challenges due to bureaucratic hurdles and high costs. The benefit concert is scheduled for January 7 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, with presale tickets available starting today and general sale on November 7. The event serves as a beacon of hope and solidarity for Altadena's recovery and rebuilding process.
