Slash Shares Concerns About Guns N' Roses Playing at Las Vegas' Sphere Venue
Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash expressed his reservations about the band potentially playing a residency at Las Vegas’ innovative venue, the Sphere. He believes that the venue may not be conducive to a traditional rock ‘n’ roll show and could lean more towards a visually focused performance. Slash mentioned that he has concerns about the setup of the venue and how it may impact the overall rock ‘n’ roll experience for both the band and the audience.
During an interview on SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation, Slash discussed his thoughts on the Sphere and its suitability for a rock ‘n’ roll show. He mentioned that while the venue looks impressive visually, it may not provide the ideal environment for a traditional rock concert. Slash also referenced Joe Walsh’s experience with The Eagles’ residency at the Sphere, indicating that the venue may not be as rock ‘n’ roll-friendly as some might expect.
When asked about Metallica potentially playing at the Sphere, Slash expressed interest in seeing how they would adapt to the venue’s unique setup. He acknowledged that bands performing at the Sphere would need to consider the visual aspect of their show as a significant component of the performance. While Slash didn’t completely dismiss the idea of Guns N’ Roses playing at the Sphere, he emphasized the importance of aligning with the venue’s visual focus.
Despite his reservations, Slash didn’t rule out the possibility of Guns N’ Roses eventually performing at the Sphere. He acknowledged the importance of incorporating visual elements into the show and recognized that it might require a shift in mindset for the band. While other artists like No Doubt and The Eagles have already secured residencies at the Sphere, Slash hinted that GN’R might explore the opportunity in the future, albeit with some hesitation.
