Victoria Beckham Reflects on Geri Halliwell's Departure from the Spice Girls

Victoria Beckham recently discussed Geri Halliwell's departure from the Spice Girls during an interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast. The Spice Girls, consisting of Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Mel C, Mel B, and Beckham, rose to fame in 1994 but faced a setback when Halliwell left the group in 1998 without warning. Beckham revealed that they were taken by surprise when Halliwell didn't show up for an event, leading to the group's eventual split.

Halliwell's departure was attributed to creative differences, disillusionment, and exhaustion. Following her exit, the Spice Girls continued as a four-member group until their hiatus in 2000. Beckham, who was pregnant with her first child, Brooklyn, during that time, recalled the challenges of touring while experiencing morning sickness and the pressure to continue performing despite her condition.

After completing 103 more shows, the Spice Girls disbanded, and Beckham gave birth to Brooklyn before moving to Manchester to support David Beckham's soccer career. The transition from a global music career to a domestic life in Manchester was a significant change for Beckham, who found it tough to adjust to the new lifestyle after being on stage with her bandmates and traveling the world.
