Skybound Entertainment and Hasbro Partner to Create Energon Universe: A New Adult Animated Series by Robert Kirkman

Skybound Entertainment has partnered with Hasbro Entertainment to create Energon Universe, an adult animated series based on Robert Kirkman's comics. Joe Henderson will write and serve as showrunner for the series, which combines G.I. Joe, Transformers, and Void Rivals mythology. The series will have an adult sensibility similar to Kirkman's Invincible series.
Kirkman, a longtime fan of Transformers and G.I. Joe, acquired the comic book rights to these Hasbro brands in 2021. He developed a shared universe where Transformers, G.I. Joe, and Void Rivals coexist. Energon Universe has become a bestseller, with over 7 million units sold worldwide since its launch in 2023.
Henderson, known for his work on Lucifer, will bring his expertise to the Energon Universe series. Hasbro Entertainment has a diverse slate of projects, including Clue, Dungeons & Dragons, Monopoly, Magic: The Gathering, Power Rangers, and My Little Pony adaptations.
Skybound Entertainment, co-founded by Kirkman and David Alpert, is known for The Walking Dead and Invincible. They have upcoming projects like Dime Tu Nombre and Vaka, as well as the adaptation of Stillwater for Prime Video. The collaboration between Skybound and Hasbro promises an exciting new animated series for fans of these iconic brands.
