Reuniting for Romance: Larenz Tate and Nia Long to Star in New Netflix Film
Larenz Tate and Nia Long, known for their roles in the classic film Love Jones, are reuniting for a new romantic drama on Netflix. The upcoming project will showcase their chemistry once again, giving fans a chance to see the magic that made their first collaboration a hit. Love Jones depicted the complex relationship between poet Darius Lovehall, played by Tate, and photographer Nina Mosley, portrayed by Long, capturing the essence of young love.
Inspired by Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite, the new film will explore a passionate romance from its exhilarating beginnings to its tumultuous end. Director Eugene Ashe, of Sylvie's Love fame, will lead the project, with a script by Kay Oyegun from This Is Us. Tate and Long will star in the film, with Maxwell as an executive producer, alongside John D. Hammond. The production team includes James Lopez, Charles D. King, and Poppy Hanks from Macro Film Studios. Netflix recently greenlit the project, confirming its development.
This collaboration marks a return to onscreen romance for Tate and Long, who have previously worked together on the Michael Jackson biopic, Michael. Long portrays Katherine Jackson, while Tate takes on the role of Motown founder Berry Gordy. However, the Netflix romantic drama will be their first joint venture in the genre since the '90s. Fans can look forward to witnessing their onscreen chemistry once again in this new project.
