Triple Tigers' Remarkable Achievement: Consecutive No. 1 Hits on Billboard's Country Airplay Chart

Triple Tigers, a Nashville-based label with only four artists on its roster, achieved a remarkable feat with two of its artists securing consecutive No. 1 spots on Billboard's Country Airplay chart. Russell Dickerson's lively track "Happen to Me" claimed the top spot on the charts dated Sept. 20 and Sept. 27, following a viral dance trend sparked by the song. Subsequently, Scotty McCreery's nostalgic tune "Bottle Rockets," featuring Hootie & the Blowfish, reached No. 1 on the chart dated Oct. 4.

This milestone marked the first time Triple Tigers had back-to-back No. 1 hits, although both Dickerson and McCreery had previously achieved chart-topping success. Established in 2016 as a collaboration between Thirty Tigers, The Orchard, and Triple 8 Management, the label saw early triumphs with McCreery and Dickerson's singles reaching No. 1 on Country Airplay. Kevin Herring, the co-president of Triple Tigers, attributes the label's success to its small roster, emphasizing the focus on quality over quantity.

Herring reflects on the label's unexpected achievement of consecutive No. 1 hits, highlighting the organic progression of both songs on the radio. He credits the exceptional quality of the artists and their performances for the songs' success, emphasizing that great music speaks for itself. The promotional efforts of Triple Tigers' team, led by Raffaella Braun, played a crucial role in navigating potential obstacles and ensuring the songs' success.

The viral dance associated with Dickerson's "Happen to Me" added a fun and engaging element to the song's promotion, attracting a wider audience and fueling consumption. While the dance contributed to the song's popularity, Herring believes that the strength of the track itself was the primary factor in convincing radio stations to play it. Additionally, the collaboration with Columbia Records facilitated the song's crossover success on non-country formats.

Dickerson's crossover hit "Happen to Me" marked a significant milestone in his career, expanding his reach beyond the country genre. The partnership with Columbia Records and the success of the song on multiple airplay charts have elevated Dickerson's profile and set the stage for future endeavors. The label aims to capitalize on this success and continue building on Dickerson's momentum with his follow-up single "Worth Your Wild."
