French Box Office Report: September Admissions and Top Performances

In September, box-office admissions in France reached 9.5 million, showing a 6% decrease compared to the previous year but a 6% increase from September 2023. The total gross was around €70.1 million, with an average ticket price of €7.4. This followed a challenging summer with significant drops in admissions in August, July, June, and May.
Year-on-year ticket sales have decreased by 14.4%, totaling 109.5 million admissions (€810 million) compared to 127.8 million (€946 million) in the same period from 2023-2024. The top titles in September were Warner Bros' horror film "The Conjuring: Last Rites" and Sony's Japanese anime movie "Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle," both attracting large audiences.
Notable performances in September included Oliver Laxe's "Sirât," Paul Thomas Anderson's "One Battle After Another," Antony Cordier's "The Party's Over," Alex Lutz's "Connemara," and Joachim Trier's "Sentimental Value." These films garnered significant admissions and positive reception from audiences.
On October 2, Jafar Panahi's "It Was Just A Simple Accident," which won the Palme d'Or and will represent France at the Oscars, had a strong start at the box office with 20,500 admissions.
