Frank Zappa's legendary 1978 Halloween show at the Palladium in New York City is set to be released as a box set on October 24th. The Super Deluxe Edition of the set will contain 62 tracks spread across five CDs and will come in a special box that includes a Zappa devil mask, a pitchfork with light, and a book featuring rare photos and memorabilia. The Halloween 78 box set will feature the iconic concert from October 31, 1978, as well as the first concert from October 27, which led up to the Halloween night performance.

This release marks the fourth special box set dedicated to Zappa's Halloween concerts, following Halloween 77, Halloween 73, and Halloween 81. Halloween was Zappa's favorite holiday, and he held annual concerts to celebrate it, starting in 1972. The 1978 Halloween concert featured Zappa and his band performing for nearly four hours without a setlist, playing favorites like "Dancin' Fool," "Peaches En Regalia," and "Don't Eat the Yellow Snow," as well as lesser-known tracks like "Suicide Chump," "Easy Meat," "Keep It Greasy," and "The Meek Shall Inherit Nothing."

The Halloween 78 box set will be available in two vinyl versions and a single CD edition, in addition to the Super Deluxe Edition. The track listing for the five-disc Super Deluxe Edition includes a wide range of songs performed during the Halloween 78 concert, showcasing Zappa's musical prowess and creativity.
