Remembering Nancylee Myatt: A Tribute to a Pioneering Writer and Producer

Nancylee Myatt, a talented writer and producer known for her work on popular TV shows like Night Court, The 5 Mrs. Buchanans, and Living Single, has passed away at the age of 68. She made the decision to peacefully end her life in Switzerland on her birthday after being diagnosed with cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's disease.
Myatt's career in television began with her role as the only female writer on the staff of The Powers That Be, a political comedy series. She later worked on shows like South of Nowhere, Night Court, The 5 Mrs. Buchanans, and Living Single, earning accolades for her contributions to the industry.
In addition to her work in television, Myatt was also a playwright and a member of the Cherokee tribe in Oklahoma. She received a degree in Fine Arts from the University of California at Irvine and went on to write and produce for various TV series in the '90s and 2000s.
One of Myatt's notable projects was the cop show pilot Nikki & Nora, which gained a dedicated fan base online and inspired a web series in 2013. She also collaborated with Barry Sonnenfeld on a sci-fi dramedy pilot called Trackers and co-wrote a pilot for ABC Family titled Cupidity.
Myatt and her wife, Paige Williams Bernhardt, relocated to New Orleans in 2010, where she found inspiration for her work in the city's vibrant neighborhoods and culture. She will be remembered for her creativity, talent, and contributions to the entertainment industry.
To honor her memory, donations can be made to the Louisiana chapter of the Alzheimer's Association or the National Spay Alliance Foundation (NSAF Savannah).
