Insights from the 59th International Conference of Horseracing Authorities: Betting, Marketing, and Customer Experience

The 59th International Conference of Horseracing Authorities was recently held in Paris, focusing on racing betting, marketing, and customer experience. The event brought together 165 delegates from around 40 countries to discuss the key issues facing the sport and its future. IFHA chair Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges emphasized the importance of addressing current threats and seizing opportunities for long-term success.
Moderated by sports television presenter Rishi Persad, the conference featured two main sessions. The first session delved into horse racing wagering and marketing, exploring how technological advancements and changing consumer behaviors are shaping the industry. Industry leaders from organizations such as NYRA Bets, Ascot Racecourse, and the Breeders' Cup Ltd shared their insights on the potential for growth and collaboration in the sport.
The second session focused on the growth of illegal betting on racing and the challenges in betting regulation. Panelists discussed the impact of tighter government controls on gambling and the importance of educating stakeholders about integrity threats. Presentations on sports and horse racing innovation, as well as an overview of the upcoming 41st Asian Racing Conference in Riyadh, provided additional perspectives on the industry's future.
