Empowering Athletes: Heroic Minds Mental Performance Program Partners with the OHL

The Ontario Hockey League (OHL) has partnered with Heroic Minds, a mental performance platform created by former OHL player Ben Fanelli. Fanelli, who played for the Kitchener Rangers and overcame a life-threatening brain injury, developed the Heroic Minds program to provide athletes with support for various mental health challenges. The program offers education through a mobile app, focusing on areas such as anxiety, depression, relationships, concussion, addiction, and career transition.
Heroic Minds aims to revolutionize the self-help process by offering athletes a private and secure space to access the support they need. The curriculum will be available to players and staff in both the OHL and the Western Hockey League this season. Fanelli emphasizes the importance of providing support to current players and staff, drawing on his own experiences with mental health challenges during his time with the Kitchener Rangers.
The Heroic Minds program, powered by WINMAR, represents a significant step forward in mental performance resources for athletes. Fanelli and his team are dedicated to expanding their reach across various sporting leagues, focusing on empowering individuals and promoting well-being. The platform offers a seamless experience for connecting with certified health professionals, booking sessions, and accessing educational resources all in one place.
To explore the Heroic Minds platform, individuals can visit heroicminds.live or download the app from the App Store or Google Play. Health professionals and certified coaches interested in joining the Heroic Minds community can sign up on the Heroic Minds website. The program aims to redefine the conversation around mental health and well-being, creating an engaging and innovative space for athletes to access support and resources.
The OHL, known as the top development league in the world, continues to be a key talent pipeline for the National Hockey League. With 20 teams, including those in Ontario, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, the OHL provides opportunities for players to pursue post-secondary education through hockey scholarships. Over the years, the OHL has invested millions in scholarships for its graduates, supporting their academic and athletic pursuits.
