Dance Alive National Ballet's Diamond Anniversary Celebration: Land of La Chua

Dance Alive National Ballet is celebrating its Diamond Anniversary with a special program titled "Land of La Chua" on October 10 at the Curtis M. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. The performance pays tribute to Alachua County's rich history and natural beauty. The show opens with a depiction of the conflict over land between the Timucua Indigenous people and the Spanish settlers, followed by a tribute to the joy and beauty of the local environment. Dancers will perform to the music of Will McLean's "My Soul Is The Hawk" and showcase the springs that are beloved in the area. The program also includes a piece inspired by General Edmund P. Gaines and a work by Judy Skinner set in and around Paynes Prairie. After intermission, the audience will be treated to a Tom Petty Tribute Ballet featuring six of the legendary musician's songs. Attendees can also explore exhibits from local organizations during intermission and after the performance. Don't miss this special celebration of Alachua County's 200 years and Dance Alive National Ballet's 60 years of artistry. Let's Rock On!
