CNN Max Livestream Transition: HBO Max Ends 24/7 News Feed, Preparing for CNN's Standalone Streaming Service Launch

HBO Max will discontinue its 24/7 CNN live news stream in preparation for the launch of CNN's standalone streaming service later this year. The CNN Max livestream will no longer be accessible on HBO Max in the U.S. starting November 17. However, HBO Max will still feature select CNN Originals like "Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown" and "Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy."
CNN recently announced plans to introduce a new streaming service targeting a younger audience in the fall of 2025. This move follows the closure of CNN+ in March 2022, which aimed to attract younger viewers but was short-lived. The upcoming service is expected to offer a more straightforward approach compared to CNN+ and will focus on engaging a broader audience.
Alex MacCallum, CNN's Executive Vice President of Digital Products and Services, expressed gratitude for the positive response to the 24/7 news feed on HBO Max. He highlighted the valuable insights gained from HBO Max subscribers and emphasized CNN's commitment to leveraging this knowledge for the upcoming streaming subscription service. The new offering aims to build on the success of the previous collaboration and expand CNN's viewership.
As HBO Max discontinues the CNN live news stream, viewers can anticipate the launch of CNN's new streaming service later this year. The transition marks a strategic shift in CNN's digital strategy, aiming to cater to diverse audience preferences and enhance the overall streaming experience. Stay tuned for more updates on CNN's upcoming streaming platform.
