Coyote: Mel Gibson and Renata Notni Star in Border Thriller Film

Mel Gibson and Renata Notni have signed on to star in the upcoming border thriller film, Coyote, alongside Esai Morales. The movie follows the story of Hernán Barroca, a former smuggler who gets pulled back into the dangerous world he tried to leave behind. When Hernán helps Julia and her daughter Maribel navigate the treacherous borderlands, they attract the attention of a ruthless trafficking syndicate. As the past and present collide, U.S. Border Patrol agent Bradley joins the pursuit, and Hernán must rely on his cunning and grit to survive and seek redemption.

Gibson will portray Jack Bradley, a weathered U.S. Army Sergeant and the father of Border Patrol agent Liz Bradley. Notni will play Julia, a mother fighting to get her daughter to safety as they journey through the borderlands between the U.S. and Mexico. The film is written by Per Prinz and Adam J. Goldstein, with Scott Smith of Fire Tiger Studios, Hamid and Camille Torabpour of Winter State Entertainment, and Morales and his Richport Entertainment serving as producers.

Filmmaker Prinz praised Gibson's passion for filmmaking and his ability to elevate those around him, noting his intensity, artistry, and commitment to authenticity. He also highlighted Notni's undeniable talent and power in embodying the character of Julia with grace and strength. Gibson, a two-time Academy Award winner, recently directed the thriller Flight Risk starring Mark Wahlberg and will next direct and produce the two-part Resurrection of The Christ. Notni, a prominent Mexican actress, led Amazon MGM's Zorro reboot and will appear in the upcoming Spanish-language series Day One.

Both Gibson and Notni are represented by IAG and have garnered acclaim for their performances in various film and television projects. Coyote promises to be a gripping and intense thriller that explores the complexities of the borderlands and the challenges faced by those navigating them.
