BFI London Film Festival 2025: Meet the Esteemed Jury Members

Elizabeth Karlsen, co-founder of Number 9 Films, and filmmaker Kahlil Joseph will be part of the official competition jury at this year's BFI London Film Festival. Karlsen will serve as the jury president, alongside Joseph and Pulitzer-Prize winning film critic Justin Chang. The festival, scheduled for Oct. 8-19, will feature films like Nia DaCosta's Hedda, Jonatan Etzler's Bad Apples, and Mona Fastvold's The Testament of Ann Lee.
The first feature competition jury, known as the Sutherland Award, will be led by British filmmaker Kibwe Tavares. Tavares, who co-directed The Kitchen with Daniel Kaluuya, premiered the film at the LFF in 2023. Anja Fröhner from the Zurich Film Festival and director Nadia Latif will also join Tavares on the jury.
Eloïse King, known for her debut feature doc The Shadow Scholars, will head the jury for the Grierson Award for best documentary. She is joined by Josh Siegel from the Museum of Modern Art and Reece Goodwin from the Australian Centre for the Moving Image. Ming-Jung Kuo, the artistic director of the Singapore International Film Festival, will lead the jury for the best short film category, with Matty Crawford and Lee Ott rounding out the jury.
