Raul Malo Shares Update on Cancer Battle: Cancels Tour Dates to Focus on Health

Country music artist Raul Malo recently shared an update on his battle with stage 4 colon cancer, revealing that he has been diagnosed with a rare complication known as leptomeningeal disease (LMD). This condition involves the spread of cancer cells to the cerebrospinal fluid and membranes around the brain and spinal cord. Due to this development, Malo announced the cancellation of most of The Mavericks' 2025 tour dates to focus on his health and undergo radiation treatment, with potential chemotherapy and alternative therapies in the future.

Despite the setback, Malo expressed gratitude for the support he has received from his family, friends, bandmates, and fans. He emphasized that he is not alone in this fight and is determined to face his cancer battle head-on. The Mavericks had been touring with Dwight Yoakam but had to cancel or postpone several shows due to Malo's health issues. However, Malo encouraged fans to hold onto their tickets for the band's upcoming shows in Nashville, promising something special for those performances.

As Malo prepares for his treatment and recovery, he acknowledged the uncertainty of the road ahead but affirmed his commitment to fighting the disease with determination and resilience. He thanked everyone for their support and understanding during this challenging time, expressing his appreciation for the outpouring of love, prayers, and well-wishes he has received. Despite the cancellations, Malo remains optimistic and determined to navigate this journey with strength and positivity.
