A young hockey player from Minnesota, Jackson Drum, recently returned to the rink after recovering from a serious neck injury he sustained during a game in Canada. During a hockey game in Canada, Jackson suffered a neck injury that damaged his C1 and C2 vertebrae, leading to a month-long recovery in a Canadian hospital. Following his stabilization, he was transferred to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, where he underwent specialized treatment to wean him off the ventilator. Against the odds, Jackson passed the ventilator test on his birthday, marking a significant milestone in his recovery journey.
Both Jackson and his mother, Erica, credited the Shepherd Center for the progress he has made in his recovery. Despite initially being diagnosed with a complete spinal cord injury, Jackson's condition improved to an incomplete spinal cord injury, a rare occurrence in such cases. Determined to walk again and return to the ice with his team, Jackson remains positive and focused on his rehabilitation goals.
