New York Rangers' star forward Artemi Panarin participated in practice wearing a red jersey, signaling his clearance for contact. The 33-year-old Russian player had been dealing with a lower-body injury during training camp but is expected to be ready for the season opener against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Oct. 7. Panarin had an impressive performance last season, scoring 37 goals and 52 assists in 80 games. In the previous season, he achieved a career-high 120 points, including 49 goals.
Panarin, a seasoned left winger, is in the final year of his seven-year, $81.5 million contract with an average annual value of $11.64 million.
