Spaceballs Sequel: Return of the Schwartz

Amazon MGM Studios has officially announced the upcoming sequel to the popular sci-fi comedy film Spaceballs. The sequel will feature original cast members Rick Moranis, Bill Pullman, and Daphne Zuniga reprising their roles as Dark Helmet, Lone Star, and Princess Vespa. New additions to the cast include Josh Gad, Keke Palmer, Lewis Pullman, Anthony Carrigan, and George Wyner.

Mel Brooks, the creator of the original film, will also be returning to portray his iconic characters Yogurt and President Skroob. The film is currently in production under the direction of Josh Greenbaum, with an expected theatrical release in 2027. The screenplay for the sequel, written by Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez with input from Gad, is being kept under wraps.

The production team includes Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, and Jeb Brody, as well as Brooks, Gad, Greenbaum, and Kevin Salter. Moranis, Gad, Palmer, Pullman, Carrigan, Wyner, and Zuniga are all represented by various talent agencies and management companies.
