The Rolling Stones Black and Blue Super Deluxe Box Set: A Comprehensive Tribute to a Legendary Album

The Rolling Stones are revisiting their iconic 13th studio album, Black and Blue, with a comprehensive Super Deluxe box set set to be released on Nov. 14 by Interscope/UMe. This special edition will include five previously unreleased tracks and will be available in various formats, such as a 5LP vinyl box set, a 4-CD box set, and limited-edition black and blue marbled vinyl versions. The box set will also feature a Blu-ray disc, a replica tour poster, and a 100-page hardback book with exclusive photos and a new essay by Stones expert Paul Sexton.
Black and Blue was a significant album for the band as it marked a transitional period following the departure of guitarist Mick Taylor and the introduction of Ronnie Wood. The album features a mix of reggae, funk, and soul influences on tracks like "Hot Stuff," "Fool to Cry," "Memory Motel," and "Melody." The box set will include a disc of previously unreleased songs, including a Mick Jagger/Keith Richards composition titled "I Love Ladies" and a cover of Shirley & Company's "Shame, Shame, Shame."
The Super Deluxe box set will also include a full live concert from the band's residency at London's Earls Court Exhibition Centre, as well as a Blu-ray disc with a previously unreleased TV broadcast of the Stones' 1976 show in Paris. Producer Andrew Watt hinted at a potential follow-up to the band's Grammy-winning album, 2023's Hackney Diamonds, but details remain scarce.
Fans can look forward to a remastered version of "Shame, Shame, Shame," a trailer for the Black and Blue remaster, and the full track listing for the Super Deluxe 4CD + Blu-ray version. The box set promises to offer a comprehensive look at this pivotal moment in The Rolling Stones' career, showcasing their musical evolution and creative collaborations.
