Softly, As I Leave You: Priscilla Presley's Revealing Memoir on Life After Elvis

Priscilla Presley has opened up about her complicated relationship with Elvis in her latest book, revealing that he once considered having her karate instructor killed after discovering their affair. In her upcoming memoir, "Softly, As I Leave You: Life After Elvis," Priscilla disclosed that she had a romantic involvement with her karate instructor, Mike Stone, while still married to Elvis. The affair began as a close friendship that evolved into something more, especially after Priscilla learned about Elvis' infidelity through letters from other women.

Reflecting on the infidelity in an interview with Today, Priscilla acknowledged that there were too many people involved in their marriage, leading to a sense of detachment. She described how Elvis would have other women visit the house on weekends, creating a separate life from their marriage. Despite his infidelities, Priscilla felt justified in pursuing her own affair with Stone.

The revelation of Priscilla's affair with Stone deeply upset Elvis, to the point where he allegedly considered hiring someone to harm Stone. Priscilla shared that Elvis was unable to bear the thought of her being with another man and even discussed the idea of eliminating Stone with his associates. However, with time and persuasion from his inner circle, Elvis eventually abandoned the idea of violence.

In her book, Priscilla also detailed a distressing encounter with Elvis after he learned about her affair. She described how he engaged in intimate relations with her in a forceful manner, trying to assert his masculinity and dominance. Despite the emotional toll of the experience, Priscilla clarified that this incident was not the primary reason for her decision to divorce Elvis in 1972.

Priscilla's memoir also touches on her disapproval of her daughter Lisa Marie Presley's relationship with Michael Jackson in the 1990s. She expressed strong objections to their brief marriage, describing it as appalling. Through her book, Priscilla provides a candid and revealing account of her life with Elvis and the challenges they faced in their relationship.
