Adirondacks Host UCI Mountain Biking World Series: Thrilling Races and Exciting Courses Await!

The UCI Mountain Biking World Series is set to make a return to the Adirondacks for its second consecutive year. The event will feature a cross-country course at Mt. Van Hoevenberg and a new downhill racing course at Whiteface Mountain. Excitement is building as fans can expect thrilling races and a fun-filled atmosphere, according to Kris Cheney-Seymour from the Olympic Regional Development Authority.
Scheduled to take place over three days starting on October 3, the event will offer live music, food, and multiple viewing spots for spectators to enjoy the races. The course designer, Maxwell Van Wie, who created the track at Mt. Van Hoevenberg last year, faced unique challenges in designing the course at Whiteface Mountain due to its rugged terrain and size.
Nick Zachara from ORDA highlighted the difficulties posed by the dry summer conditions in ensuring proper compaction of the track. Despite the challenges, Van Wie emphasized that the course at Whiteface is designed for speed, featuring twists and turns through wooded areas and open spaces. Having grown up in Elizabethtown, Van Wie expressed his pride in leaving a mark on the Olympic mountain with the trail and race.
As the UCI Mountain Biking World Series prepares to showcase its thrilling races in the Adirondacks, fans can look forward to an action-packed event that celebrates the sport of mountain biking in a spectacular setting.
