Lost in Space: Revisiting the Nineties Classic with Arrow Video's 4K UHD Release

The winter of 1998 was dominated by James Cameron's "Titanic," which held the top spot at the box office for fifteen weeks. Despite attempts by other movies like "Sphere," "U.S. Marshals," and "Deep Rising," it wasn't until April that "Lost in Space" managed to dethrone "Titanic."

"Lost in Space," a remake of the 1960s series, had a massive budget but failed to become the franchise New Line Cinema had hoped for. Now, Arrow Video has released a new 4K UHD version of the film, joining their collection of eighties and nineties classics like "Cobra" and "Spawn."

The movie was ahead of its time in its use of CGI effects, although some found them to be too cartoonish, especially the character Blarp. Directed by Stephen Hopkins, known for other genre films like "Predator 2" and "The Ghost and the Darkness," the movie also featured a star-studded cast including Gary Oldman, William Hurt, and Matt LeBlanc.

Despite its flaws, "Lost in Space" remains an intriguing film to revisit, with its nineties soundtrack and visual effects adding to its charm. The Arrow Video release includes bonus features and a stunning 4K UHD transfer, making it a fun addition to any collection.
