Introducing the Novice Girls Division: East Hawaiʻi Youth Basketball League 2025-26 Season

The County of Hawaiʻi Department of Parks and Recreation is introducing a new novice girls division for the upcoming East Hawaiʻi Youth Basketball League 2025-26 season. This initiative aims to boost participation among beginner-level players by offering separate divisions for boys and girls. The league has partnered with the NBA and WNBA, providing players with reversible jerseys and official basketballs upon registration for a $30 fee.
Mayor Kimo Alameda expressed enthusiasm for the youth basketball league as a platform for children to engage in team sports regardless of their experience level. Registration for the new girls division will commence on Tuesday, Sept. 23. The league features various divisions and age groups, with a registration fee of $30 per player and $160 for team coaches.
In addition to the East Hawaiʻi league, similar youth basketball opportunities will be available in West Hawaiʻi and North Hawaiʻi, encompassing the North Kohala, South Kohala, and Hāmākua districts. More details about these leagues will be announced soon.
