Major Methamphetamine Lab Bust in Oudehoutkloof: $20 Million Worth of Drugs Seized, International Arrests Made
South African officials uncovered a methamphetamine lab on a farm in Oudehoutkloof, Volksrust, where they found $20 million worth of illicit drugs. Acting on a tip about suspicious activities, the South African Police Service raided the farm and discovered precursor chemicals, manufacturing equipment, and crystal meth stored in containers. Five North American citizens were arrested at the scene and are facing drug and immigration-related charges. The farm caretaker, a South African national, was also taken into custody for possession of ammunition. Two additional suspects from West African countries managed to escape capture. The dismantling of the drug lab is underway, and the suspects are expected to appear in court soon. This operation is part of the police's efforts to combat drug trafficking in Mpumalanga province and address the country's significant crystal meth consumption issue.
