Empowering Women in Recovery: The Divided Sky Residential Recovery Program's Women's Scholarship Fund

Melanie Gulde, an addiction specialist, collaborated with Phish frontman Trey Anastasio to establish the Divided Sky Residential Recovery Program in Ludlow. Recognizing the unique challenges women face in addiction recovery, the program is launching a women's scholarship fund to provide support for those struggling with substance use disorder. The fund aims to raise $500,000 and has already gathered $300,000, emphasizing the importance of every woman's journey to a sober life.

Women are more likely to experience traumatic events that can lead to substance use disorder, yet they often encounter barriers to treatment due to financial constraints and lack of support. Divided Sky aims to address this disparity by offering a nonclinical program focused on compassion, mindfulness, and the 12 steps for long-term wellness. The program, which charges $7,500 for a 30-day stay, relies on scholarships to ensure accessibility to all individuals seeking recovery.

Trey Anastasio, who overcame opioid dependence with the help of Gulde's counseling, founded the Divided Sky Foundation to provide others with the same support he received. The foundation's mission is to offer a safe and supportive environment for individuals seeking recovery, with a particular focus on addressing the shortage of available beds in the Vermont recovery community. Through fundraising efforts and collaborations with women's rights advocates like Tamara Holder, the program aims to expand its reach and provide more women with the opportunity to heal and start anew.

As supporters gear up for Anastasio's upcoming Beacon Jams concerts, efforts are underway to raise additional funds for the women's scholarship program. The initiative has already made a positive impact, with the program's first female participant benefiting from Holder's support. By fostering a community of compassion and empowerment, Divided Sky is committed to helping women overcome addiction and embark on a path to recovery and renewal.
