Jimi Hendrix Experience: Axis Bold as Love - Expanded Box Set with 40 Bonus Tracks
An upcoming box set will feature an expanded version of the Jimi Hendrix Experience's second album, Axis: Bold as Love. The four-CD set includes remastered tracks from the original album, as well as outtakes, demos, and live recordings from the same era. The release date for Bold as Love is set for Nov. 7, and it will contain a total of 40 bonus tracks, with 28 of them being previously unreleased. The cover art for the box set was chosen by Hendrix's sister, Janie, and features a colorful dragon drawing made by Hendrix when he was just 5 years old.
Axis: Bold as Love was released in 1967, shortly after the band's debut album, Are You Experienced. The album included popular tracks like "Up From the Skies," "Spanish Castle Magic," "Little Wing," and the title track. The new box set will also be available in vinyl and digital formats, and it will feature new Dolby ATMOS mixes created by the original album engineer, Eddie Kramer, and Chandler Harrod. The expanded set will include a variety of alternative versions, unreleased studio takes, demos, live tracks, and TV appearances from the time of the album's creation and release, with 28 of these recordings being previously unheard.
