Charity Hockey Game Raises Funds and Awareness for ALS Research at Skate Nation in Short Pump

A charity hockey game was held at Skate Nation in Short Pump to raise funds and awareness for ALS research. The event, which honored the late Mike Purvis, featured his grandchildren, Liam and Carson Blankenship, participating in the ceremonial puck drop. The national anthem was sung by Clara Burkett to kick off the game.
The Patriots Law Enforcement team, comprising current and former officers from Central Virginia, faced off against the Raleigh Fire and Police Department on the ice. Donations for ALS research were collected by volunteers in the lobby during the game. ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a progressive condition that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.
Despite Raleigh's victory in the game, both teams celebrated raising over $2,000 to support finding a cure for ALS. The Patriots Law Enforcement Hockey Team makes annual donations to ALS charities as part of their commitment to the cause. The event was a successful fundraiser for ALS research and brought the community together for a good cause.
