Former NFL Star Jay Cutler Faces Lawsuit Over 2024 DUI Crash: Details, Legal Consequences, and Impact on Victim

Former NFL star Jay Cutler is facing a lawsuit following his 2024 DUI arrest, where he crashed into another vehicle while intoxicated. The driver of the car he hit, Perry Lee, has filed a lawsuit against Cutler, claiming he was at fault for the collision. Lee's suit alleges that Cutler was following his car too closely, failed to maintain a proper lookout, and did not pay attention while driving. Cutler's intoxication during the crash is also highlighted in the lawsuit, which demands unspecified damages for medical bills, expenses, and physical and mental suffering.

Lee's lawyers, John Morgan and Sydney Pierce, are seeking justice for their client, a veteran who was injured in the crash. They emphasize that the injuries have caused him daily pain and have significantly impacted his quality of life. Cutler was recently sentenced to four days in jail, DUI classes, fines, license revocation, and probation following the incident. He was arrested after rear-ending another vehicle and was found to be intoxicated, with police noting his impaired physical state and bloodshot eyes.

Cutler's refusal to perform a field sobriety test led to his arrest on charges of DUI, illegal possession of a weapon while intoxicated, and failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision. He later pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor DUI charge as part of a deal with prosecutors. Cutler is set to begin his jail sentence on September 29. Despite his legal troubles, Cutler recently got engaged to his girlfriend, Samantha Robertson, after finalizing his divorce from Kristin Cavallari in 2020. The couple shares three children together.
