Reclaiming Legacy: John Fogerty's Journey with 'Legacy: The Creedence Clearwater Revival Years — John’s Version

John Fogerty, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and mastermind behind Creedence Clearwater Revival, recently released a new album titled "Legacy: The Creedence Clearwater Revival Years — John’s Version." Initially, he wanted to name it "Taylor’s Version" as a nod to Taylor Swift, but it ended up being called "John’s Version." Fogerty's journey to reclaim ownership of his music from Fantasy Records, which he signed away in the mid-1960s, mirrors Swift's battle to regain control of her master recordings.

After years of legal battles, Fogerty finally regained ownership of the 69 songs he wrote and recorded with Creedence between 1968 and 1972. His new album features 20 songs, including classics like "Proud Mary," "Lodi," "Green River," and "Who’ll Stop The Rain." Fogerty, now 80, recorded the album with his touring band, staying true to the original sound and spirit of the Creedence versions.

Despite initial reluctance, Fogerty found catharsis in rerecording his iconic songs. His dedication to maintaining the intensity and power of his vocals, reminiscent of his younger self, shines through on "Legacy." The album captures the essence of his musical legacy and the enduring impact of his timeless songs. Through this project, Fogerty celebrates his hard-fought journey to reclaim his music and reaffirms his place as a legendary figure in the music industry.
