Exploring Gotham: Behind the Scenes of DCU's Clayface

Production has commenced on the upcoming DCU film, Clayface, with new set photos surfacing. The latest images showcase a detailed map of Gotham City, the central setting of the movie. Filming is taking place in Liverpool, standing in for the iconic city of Gotham. The map features key locations such as Wayne Tower, Arkham Asylum, City Hall, G.C.P.D. Headquarters, and the Iceberg Lounge.

While Wayne Enterprises is prominently displayed on the map, Batman is not expected to make an appearance in Clayface. The film revolves around an aspiring actor who undergoes a transformation after his face is disfigured by a gangster, leading to a body horror narrative. Tom Rhys Harries takes on the role of Clayface, the notorious DC villain and main adversary of Batman. Reports suggest that Harries will portray the Matt Hagen version of the character in the movie.

In addition to Harries, Naomi Ackie joins the cast as a scientist with an "Elizabeth Holmes-style" persona. Eddie Marsan and Max Minghella are also part of the ensemble, with Marsan rumored to have an undisclosed role and Minghella set to play a Gotham City police detective romantically involved with Ackie's character. The film is directed by James Watkins, known for his work on the American remake of Speak No Evil, with the script penned by horror expert Mike Flanagan.

Clayface is produced by James Gunn, Peter Safran, Matt Reeves, and Lynn Harris, and is part of DCU's Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on September 11, 2026.
