San Sebastián Film Festival 2022: Opening with '27 Nights' and Closing with 'Winter of the Crow

The San Sebastián Film Festival will kick off with the premiere of the Argentinian family drama "27 Nights," directed by Daniel Hendler. The film, based on a novel by Natalia Zito, follows the story of an elderly millionaire who is forcibly placed in a psychiatric ward by her daughters. Starring Hendler and Marilú Marini, the movie is a collaboration between Netflix and Buenos Aires-based La Unión de los Ríos.
On the other end, the festival will conclude with the screening of "Winter of the Crow," a Polish period neo-noir film directed by Kasia Adamik. The movie, set in December 1981 during the Solidarity movement in Poland, features Lesley Manville as a London-based academic caught in a cat and mouse thriller scenario. Produced by a collaboration of companies from Poland, Luxembourg, and the U.K., the film promises an intriguing narrative.
The selection of "27 Nights" as the opening film highlights the festival's support for the Argentinian film industry, while the choice of "Winter of the Crow" for the closing night suggests its potential broad audience appeal. Both films bring unique stories to the screen and showcase the diverse talent in the international film landscape.
