Questlove's Live-Action 'The Aristocats' Adaptation Put on Hold: Director Discusses Project Cancellation

Questlove, also known as Ahmir Thompson, recently shared that his live-action adaptation of Disney's "The Aristocats" has been put on hold. Originally set to direct the film, Thompson discussed the project's cancellation in an interview on "Score: The Podcast." Despite his interest in directing "The Aristocats," Thompson mentioned that he has a busy schedule with plans to work on four other films in the next five years.
"The Aristocats" follows the story of Duchess and her three kittens who are kidnapped by their butler in an attempt to claim their inheritance. Stranded in the countryside, the cats encounter Thomas O'Malley, a street cat who helps them navigate their way back to Paris. Along the journey, they meet various animals, including an alley cat jazz band and ducks, as they strive to reunite with their owner.
Questlove, known for directing music documentaries like "Summer of Soul" and "Ladies & Gentleman… 50 Years of SNL Music," has previously collaborated with Disney in the film "Soul," where he voiced the character Curley. Despite the setback with "The Aristocats," Thompson remains focused on his upcoming film projects.
