The Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority's Anti-Doping and Medication Control Program Arbitration Panel made the final decision on this matter. Parbhoo's suspension commenced on August 27, and he was also fined $25,000 along with $10,000 in arbitration costs.
American Speed, a horse trained by Parbhoo, tested positive for clenbuterol, leading to his disqualification from his second- and fifth-place finishes at Gulfstream Park on January 5 and January 24, respectively. Clenbuterol, a bronchodilator with anabolic properties, can only be administered under HISA regulations within a valid veterinarian-client-patient relationship for therapeutic purposes for a maximum of 30 days within a six-month period. Any horse treated with clenbuterol must undergo official workout and clearance testing to regain eligibility for racing. Unauthorized use of clenbuterol is considered a violation, and horses treated with it must be listed under the veterinarian's care.
American Speed, owned by N.S.V. Racing and sired by More Than Ready, has not raced since his fifth-place finish in a starter handicap at Gulfstream on January 24. This 5-year-old gelding was the last horse Parbhoo trained this year. Parbhoo, a dual graded stakes-winning trainer, has accumulated 26 wins from 203 starters throughout his training career, with a gap in his North American career statistics from 2014 to 2022.
