NHL 2022-2023 National Broadcast Schedule Highlights and Key Matchups

The upcoming NHL season will feature a total of 172 regular-season games broadcast nationally on ABC, ESPN, ESPN+, Hulu, and TNT Sports. The season kicks off with an ESPN Opening Night Tripleheader on Oct. 7 and a doubleheader on TNT the following night. The national schedule includes 100 games on ABC, ESPN, ESPN+, and Hulu, with highlights such as the NHL Frozen Frenzy on Oct. 28 and the 2026 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series between the Boston Bruins and Tampa Bay Lightning on Feb. 1.
All games will be available for streaming on the ESPN App via ESPN DTC or Pay TV Subscription, with over 1,050 out-of-market games on NHL Power Play. The Stanley Cup Final will be exclusively broadcast on the Walt Disney Company this season. The NHL on TNT schedule will feature coverage on 14 Tuesday and 21 Wednesday nights, as well as the annual Thanksgiving Showdown and Sunday afternoon games starting in March. TNT will also air the 2026 Discover NHL Winter Classic on Jan. 2.
ESPN's NHL studio show, "The Point," will debut on Oct. 7, ahead of the season-opening tripleheader. The ESPN Opening Night Tripleheader will feature matchups between the Chicago Blackhawks and Florida Panthers, Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Rangers, and Colorado Avalanche and Los Angeles Kings. The TNT doubleheader the next night will showcase the Washington Capitals against the Boston Bruins and the Vegas Golden Knights facing the Los Angeles Kings.
Other highlights of the national schedule include Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers facing the New York Islanders on Oct. 16, Brad Marchand's return to Boston with the Panthers on Oct. 21, and a matchup between the Blackhawks and Rangers on Dec. 10. The season will resume after the Olympic Winter Games with an ESPN doubleheader on Feb. 26 featuring the Flyers and Rangers, followed by the Oilers and Kings. The NHL on TNT will conclude the regular season on April 15 with a matchup between the Red Wings and Panthers.
