He gained fame as the bassist and co-lead singer of the iconic hard rock band Kiss, which he co-founded in 1973 with Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss. Simmons remained a vital member of Kiss until the band's retirement in 2023. Apart from his musical career, Simmons is recognized for his distinctive long tongue and his reality television show, Gene Simmons Family Jewels, which aired from 2006 to 2012. In 2014, he was honored with induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Kiss.
