"English Teacher" first premiered on FX in September 2024 and received positive reviews and awards recognition. The show was renewed for Season 2 in February 2025. The renewal came after allegations of sexual assault were made against creator and star Brian Jordan Alvarez by his former friend and co-star Jon Ebeling. The network, FX, stated that they had reviewed the allegations before the show's launch but did not comment further on the matter.
