Ballad of a Small Player: Colin Farrell's Riveting Journey Through Macau's High-Stakes World

Colin Farrell stars in the upcoming film "Ballad of a Small Player," directed by Edward Berger. The movie follows the story of Lord Doyle, a high-stakes gambler in Macau, who finds himself in a downward spiral of gambling, drinking, and mounting debts. Despite trying to escape his past, Doyle's troubles catch up with him, leading to a series of events that test his limits.
As Doyle navigates his troubled life in Macau, he encounters Dao Ming, a mysterious casino employee with her own secrets, who may offer him a chance at redemption. However, Doyle is also pursued by Cynthia Blithe, a private eye determined to uncover his past and hold him accountable for his actions. As the pressure mounts, Doyle must confront his demons and make difficult choices to find a way out of his predicament.
The film features a talented cast including Fala Chen, Tilda Swinton, Deanie Ip, and Alex Jennings, and reunites Berger with his All Quiet on the Western Front collaborators, including cinematographer James Friend and composer Volker Bertelmann. "Ballad of a Small Player" is set to premiere at the Toronto Film Festival before heading to the Zurich Film Festival, where it will receive the Golden Icon Award. The movie will be released in theaters on October 15, followed by a streaming debut on Netflix two weeks later.
