Paramount Studios in Talks with Legendary Pictures for New Output Deal
Paramount, under the leadership of David Ellison, is actively engaging in new partnerships following its recent acquisition. The studio is currently in discussions with Legendary Pictures to establish an output movie deal. Legendary, known for successful franchises like Dune and Monsterverse, previously had deals with Warner Bros and Sony Pictures, with the Sony deal ending last year. Paramount has not provided any official comments on the potential deal.
While the agreement with Legendary would exclude Godzilla-Kong and Dune franchises, which are still with Warner Bros, Legendary has a track record of producing successful films. The Minecraft Movie, distributed by Warner Bros, has been a major box office success, grossing over $955 million worldwide. Additionally, Legendary is working on the highly anticipated Gundam adaptation, with Sydney Sweeney set to star and director Jim Mickle closely involved in the project's development for a planned production start next year.
