In an interview, Daniel Dae Kim, who portrays David in the series, hinted at possible twists and turns for the show's future if it gets renewed.
Butterfly, based on a graphic novel series by Boom! Studios, follows the story of a former U.S. intelligence operative, David, who must come out of hiding in South Korea to protect his daughter, Rebecca, who has become a spy-turned-assassin like him. Throughout the first season, David and Rebecca worked together to defeat a common enemy and dealt with personal revelations about their family.
The season finale took a dark turn when David discovered his wife injured and his daughter missing, leaving viewers with a cliffhanger about Rebecca's fate. Kim expressed his excitement about leading a show that involves intense stunts, despite the physical challenges it presented.
