Preview of L-L League Football Scrimmage Matchups and Season Kickoff
All 37 L-L League football teams are gearing up for their scrimmage dates this Saturday. The teams will be in full gear, with referees, scoreboards, and coaches on the field, ready to go. Let's take a look at some of the matchups that haven't been covered yet.
Exeter will face Blue Mountain in a matchup of two strong teams. Blue Mountain has a new head coach, Chuck Kutz, who previously led the team to six D11-3A crowns. Berks Catholic will take on Trinity, with the Shamrocks aiming for another shot at the D3-2A title. Conrad Weiser will face Schuylkill Valley in a battle of last year's Section 3 and Section 5 champions. Boyertown, led by former Wilson great Jami Sands, will take on Daniel Boone. Ephrata will face Dallastown, while Hamburg will play Tamaqua. Kutztown will go up against Salisbury, and Lebanon will take on York Tech. Minersville will face Northern Lebanon, Octorara will play Kennard-Dale, and Reading will take on Fleetwood. Steel-High will play Columbia, Pequea Valley will face Bristol, and Palmyra will take on Annville-Cleona in the only night game on Saturday.
In a bonus nugget, Warwick will now participate in a tri-scrimmage with Penn Manor at Elizabethtown on Saturday at 10 a.m. Muhlenberg senior RB Cameron Small is closing in on becoming the Muhls' all-time rushing leader after a stellar season last year. The York Bowl in Week 1 will feature six games, with York and York Suburban hosting teams like South Western, Susquehanna Township, Philly West Catholic, CD East, James Buchanan, Bishop McDevitt, Clarkson North, Harrisburg, and Imhotep Charter. It's shaping up to be an exciting start to the football season.
