Richmond Raceway Set to Host Crucial Cup Race as Playoff Picture Takes Shape

Richmond Raceway is set to host its only Cup race of the season this Saturday night, with just two races left in the regular season. The 16-driver playoff field is almost set, with three spots still up for grabs. Tyler Reddick is likely to secure a spot regardless of his finish, while Alex Bowman and Chris Buescher are holding onto the final two provisional spots based on points. Drivers like Kyle Busch, Ty Gibbs, and Brad Keselowski will need a win at either Richmond or Daytona to make the playoffs.

Richmond is the fourth of six short-track races this season, and Chase Briscoe has been performing well in these races. This weekend's race marks the first time in 67 years that Richmond is scheduled for only one race weekend with NASCAR's premier series. The race is set to start shortly after 7:30 p.m., with the Cup garage opening at 4:30 p.m. and the drivers meeting at 6:30 p.m.

The race will consist of 400 laps (300 miles) on the 0.75-mile oval in Richmond, Virginia. The stages will end at Lap 20 and Lap 230, with 39 cars entered for the event. The race will be broadcast on USA Network with radio coverage by Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. The weather forecast predicts partly cloudy skies with a high of 88 degrees and a 2% chance of rain at the start of the race.

In the last race at Richmond, Austin Dillon won in overtime, but his victory was stripped of playoff eligibility due to penalties. As the season nears its end, the competition is heating up, and drivers are eager to secure their spots in the playoffs. Don't miss the action at Richmond Raceway this weekend!
