Kaslo SAR verified the incident, stating that rescuers were called to the scene of an off-road motor vehicle accident on August 7. The location of the accident was accurately identified on a forestry road in the mountains near Trout Lake, prompting an efficient response from the SAR team and helicopter pilot.
Jennings-Bates disclosed that one of the victims was found without vital signs in the vehicle, while the other was transported to a hospital but later succumbed to injuries.
