The announcement was made on Instagram at 12:12 a.m. E.T. on Tuesday, Aug. 12, with a nod to the album number. The album cover has not been unveiled yet, but fans can already pre-order the vinyl, cassette, and CD editions. There is no tracklist or release date confirmed yet, but pre-orders are set to ship on Oct. 13.
Fans first noticed hints of the new album on Aug. 11 when Taylor Nation shared a post with 12 photos of Swift in the same orange shade, teasing the next era. Swift's boyfriend, Travis Kelce, hinted at her appearance on their podcast, leading to speculation among fans. This album marks Swift's first release since gaining ownership of her first six albums after a legal battle over her master recordings. She has since re-recorded her earlier works and now owns the original versions as well.
