50 Artifacts for 50 Years of Born to Run: Celebrating Bruce Springsteen's Iconic Album

DJ Rich Russo is celebrating the 50th anniversary of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band's iconic album "Born to Run" with his new online series "50 Artifacts for 50 Years of Born to Run." The series, presented by the Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music, showcases key pieces that tell the story of the album's release in 1975. Russo's artifacts are being shared rapidly, with the latest post focusing on the "Born to Run" 8-track tape release.

The series kicked off on August 1 with a story about Allan Clarke, the former lead singer of the Hollies, who almost released his version of the song "Born to Run" before Springsteen's official version came out. Clarke eventually released his version after Springsteen, and he is also known for releasing versions of other Springsteen songs. The series can be found on Russo's social media platforms and the Springsteen Archives' social media accounts.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of "Born to Run," the Springsteen Archives is hosting various events, including a symposium on September 6 at Monmouth University's Pollak Theater. The event will feature members of the E Street Band, music industry legends, journalists, historians, and special guests. Other events include a Tuesday Night Record Club discussion, a rare footage viewing hosted by filmmaker Thom Zimny, an exhibit of Eric Meola's photography, and an academic conference.

The Springsteen Archives is the official repository for Springsteen's music, photographs, periodicals, oral histories, rare recordings, films, and artifacts related to Springsteen and the E Street Band. DJ Rich Russo hosts the rock-centered "Anything, Anything" show on various radio stations, including 95.9 FM (WRAT-FM) and SiriusXM Channel 21.
