Important Road Maintenance Alert: Closures on A561 and A562 Impacting Travel to Liverpool John Lennon Airport

The A561 and A562, also known as Speke Boulevard/Speke Road, will undergo essential carriageway maintenance, leading to closures from 10.00pm on Friday, August 8, to 11.00pm on Sunday, August 10, and from 4.00am on Saturday, August 16, to 4.00am on Monday, August 18. Liverpool John Lennon Airport has warned passengers of potential significant delays due to these closures. A signposted diversion spanning around 13 miles will be in place, potentially increasing travel times. Passengers are advised to allow extra time for their journey to the airport. The airport emphasized that the maintenance schedule is subject to change based on weather conditions and may be adjusted at short notice.
Liverpool John Lennon Airport experienced its busiest month in July, marking the highest passenger traffic in its 92-year history. The surge in North West passengers choosing the Speke airport has contributed to the need for ongoing maintenance and improvements to ensure smooth operations.
