Healthcare Unlocked vs. Enhance Health: Legal Battle Unveils Allegations of Fraud and Misconduct
Jason Lee's company Healthcare Unlocked has taken legal action against Enhance Health, a medical organization it previously collaborated with, alleging fraud and misconduct. The lawsuit, filed in the Superior Court of Los Angeles, accuses Enhance Health of breach of contract, misrepresentation, fraud, and unfair business practices. Healthcare Unlocked, established in 2023 to promote healthcare access for underserved Americans, entered into a partnership with Enhance in June 2023, with Enhance agreeing to provide services for a fee of $9 per member monthly.
According to documents obtained by Complex, Healthcare Unlocked claims that Enhance engaged in a coordinated scheme that resulted in the theft of 10,000 members, leaving thousands of families vulnerable during critical enrollment periods. Additionally, Healthcare Unlocked alleges that Enhance implemented a two-tiered system, providing an inferior platform to Healthcare Unlocked while offering a superior platform to competitor JetMedia, creating an unfair competitive advantage that violated antitrust principles.
As a result of these actions, Healthcare Unlocked asserts that it has suffered business losses amounting to $6.3 million due to gross negligence on the part of Enhance. Seeking compensatory damages, restitution, and attorneys' fees and costs, Healthcare Unlocked is pursuing a minimum of $10 million in damages from Enhance Health.
The collaboration between Healthcare Unlocked and Enhance Health was officially launched in November 2023, with the goal of assisting clients in navigating the open enrollment process safely. Jason Lee, a healthcare advocate and founder of Healthcare Unlocked, emphasized the significance of the platform in providing accessible healthcare to individuals, particularly those in underserved communities. Lee expressed his commitment to the mission of Healthcare Unlocked and praised Enhance Health for its technology-based enrollment process and dedication to increasing coverage in underserved areas.
